Advice on astronomical equipment
A lot depends on how you are going to use your equipment, and that often changes as you gain confidence. There are also advantages and disadvantages to having more or less portable equipment.
Please do not hesitate to ask for advice on the purchase or use of astronomical equipment. Most members are very willing to offer their views, but please bear in mind that we all have our interests and prejudices so ask around before taking advice too literally.
Selling equipment
The OAS does not offer help in selling astronomical equipment. We suggest that equipment is put on sale on UK Astronomy Buy and Sell at https://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/. It is important to describe the kit accurately. Alternatives include eBay, where there is usually a ready market for popular equipment, and where a search of successful bids will give some idea of value. Advice on the value of equipment may sometimes be available from subscribers to cloudynights (https://www.cloudynights.com/) and stargazerslounge (https://stargazerslounge.com/), although it is important to avoid attempts to sell though those forums.
