Our August meeting was a Members Evening. After the Chairman’s welcome and introduction, Mick Welham, our Observing Officer, gave us a slightly longer than usual observing report, including a selection of members’ images from the last two months. Then Carole Pope gave us a short talk about her visit to the Sydney Observatory, including a brief mention of its inclusion in the Otford Solar System model. After the break, Tony Sizer gave us a short but entertaining talk with the title “Have I Got Astronomers For You?” about individuals who’d produced elaborate illustrated star maps, and invented constellations to fill the blank spaces.
